The National Museum of African American History and Culture opened on Sept. 24, 2016. The museum was built by Freelon Adjay Bond/Smith Group, a four firm team. President Obama stated, this museum will help tell a fuller and richer story of African american history.

Civil rights Icon John Lewis, former Presidents  George W Bush and Bill Clinton attended the opening Ceremonies. Hopefully younger generations particularly African Americans can experience the struggles, pain and sacrifices our earlier ancestors endured during the time of slavery and the Jim Crow era.
