Alton Sterling Shooting Sparks Outrage in Baton Rouge

Alton Sterling (above) was fatally shot early Tuesday morning by Baton Rouge Police.  The incident was recorded on a bystander’s cell phone. The incident has sparked outrage on social media and in the Baton Rouge African American community. Officer Blane Salamoni and Officer Howie Lake II are on administrative leave. Both Officers justified their actions in the fatal shooting of Alton Sterling.

Sterling was shot and killed around midnight (early tuesday morning) after selling CDs outside in front of Triple S Food Mart. Salamoni and Lake were responding to a disturbance call by a caller that expressed that someone had threaten him with a gun. Baton Rouge Police have released very few details . A witness stated that Sterling did have a gun but was not reaching for it or holding it during the incident.
