Comcast has announced they will be expanding their $9.95 internet service to an additional 1.3 million low income families. Comcast has been offering $9.95 per month to low income families since 2011. The latest announcement has brought the total to 2.4 million adults and children with internet access. This program (Internet Essentials) was first only allowed to low income families who had children attending school. Comcast also expanded their program to low income seniors and community college students.
But this is the first time Comcast has expanded the Internet Essentials program to low income families without children. Comcast has expanded this program 9 times, giving more low income families and individuals access to the internet. I commend Comcast. Having internet access will provide low income families and students with more resources and tools while continuing their ongoing education.
