Our Restaurant Review (The Crave) San Ignacio BZ

A couple of days after moving to San Ignacio, The Crave was one of few places referred to Tami and I by the locals. To be honest, most streets in San Igancio are small, so you can easily miss The Crave if you are not paying attention. It is located via Western Hwy and Benque Viejo Road. Sorry, but most places in San Ignacio does not have an official address. Just be patient and the locals here are very helpful. They will be more than happy to help you find your way.

Once we arrived at The Crave, we were not sure if they were open or not. Surprisingly they were open. After entering, we were greeted my a young man (waiter) named William. After being sitted, Tami and I agreed that we loved the aurora of the Crave. Slightly dim lights with a hint of Jazz playing in the background was music to our ears.

The Crave has a cool and cozy laid back vibe. It is also classy enough to hold business meetings or lunchings with clients and business partners. Wemight have a winner here!

Ok, it is time to get to the best part of this article, so without further ramblings let’s review our dinner at The Crave.

Our appetizer choice was the Hummus and sausage Plater with herb hummus, sausage, garlic butter Portobello, and pita bread. I am not a big hummus fan, but for some reason I enjoyed the taste of this particular hummus. Not sure if The Crave staff added something to alter the taste from what I accustomed to, but it was enjoyable.

Of course, what can I say about the sausage, garlic butter Portobello and pita bread.  The sausage and garlic butter Portobello was a great combination and it was topped off with their tasty pita bread.

Tami ordered the Beer braised short ribs riscotto, Italian rice, tender ribs, cherry tomatoes, carmalized onions basil and olive.

The ribs were very tender, well seasoned, falling off the bone and melting in your mouth. The gravy was perfectly rich. Now two weeks later and Tami is ready for another trip back to The Crave lol.

I (Marcus) decided to order the Oven roasted rabbit served in red wine and rosemary reduction. Being raised in the country. I’ve had rabbit before, but not since I was a teenager. Rabbit is kind of a lean meat, so I was concerned it might be kind of tough or chewy if not cooked right.

Hesitantly, I dug in for my first bite.  The rabbit was very tender. The redwine and rosemary infused the entire dish and disavowed the thoughts of any game tasting meat. The vegetables were carmalized to perfection and the mash potatoes were very tasty.  This was indeed a very good dish.

Our overall experience at The Crave was very welcoming. Our server William was a very polite, friendly and accomodating person. The Crave also had a nolgastic feel to it as well, from the old sewing machines on the floor, to the wine barrell sink.

This was a great first impression at our first restaurant in San Ignacio, Belize.
